17Command those rich in this world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way, they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

If you make $50,000 annually, you would be in the top 0.31% of the world’s population in earning income. Earning just $50,000 annually puts us in the top 1% of the world’s population.
CONSIDER THIS: According to Moneymanifesto.com, on the income scale, if you made minimum wage (which equates to $7.25 an hour or $15,080 a year), you would already be in the top 10% of global income. You’d be in the top 7.8% of income earners worldwide.
It’s hard to compare our finances globally because of differences in the cost of living, even within our own country. As hard as this is, ask yourself a few questions. When was the last time you didn’t have food to eat? When was the last time you had no home to sleep in? When was the last time you had no clothes or shoes to wear? The majority of Americans would answer “never” to these questions. If you have placed your faith in Jesus, how much more have you been blessed?

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
