5So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction. The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:5-8
REFLECT: It is easy to focus on our lack…on what we don’t have and where we are coming up short. Our heart then becomes anxious, worried and fearful. Can you take a step of trust today focusing on what you do have and look for an opportunity to bless someone?
CONSIDER THIS: Fears about money often negatively impact marriages, family dynamics, and friendships. People fear not having enough for retirement, medical coverage, and the ability to maintain a certain standard of living. How can we live generous lives when medical challenges and bills are real challenges we all face? The answer is simple but requires a view of God that overcomes these fears. God calls us to have faith. Faith that He will provide. Faith that will protect. Faith that He is a God of abundance.

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
