DAY 28:  Generosity Deepens Relationship

Yet it was kind of you to sharemy trouble. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:14-20

CONSIDER: When we come alongside another brother or sister in Christ in their need, pain, trials, and suffering, it is a beautiful picture of God’s provision.  You are a part of God supplying for their need!  Being generous with our time and finances allows for a deeper relationship between the giver and the receiver.  The giver gets to participate in supplying a need as God has called them to, and the receiver gets to reap the benefits of being seen, cared for, and loved.  This creates a special connection.  Let our giving be a fragrant offering.

REFLECT:  When has a generous gift deepened a friendship or relationship?  Is it easier for you to give or to receive?

PRAY:

  • Thank God for the times he has provided for you through your brothers and sisters in Christ.
  • Ask God to reveal to you who He desires you to supply help to.

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 40.8 days of prayer committed so far.

Day 1: Reflecting On Our Blessings

August 1, 2024

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
