CONSIDER: In this passage, Paul teaches the Gospel through financial metaphors. Jesus left the riches of Heaven to become poor so that we might become rich. We are rich because of Christ, saved from the power of sin, the presence of sin, and the penalty of sin. We are transformed through the Gospel by the grace of our very generous God.
REFLECT: Let the truth of God’s grace and salvation- the gospel- sink deeply into your heart and mind. How can this reality transform you into being more generous?

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
