By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

CONSIDER: How do we help others in need? Through love in action. Not words, not emotions, but by displaying God’s love within us through action. His love in us compels us to action…because of His great love for us, laying down His life for us we spill over with love for others. When we abide in His love, the overflow of that is the fruit of Spirit-love in action and deeds. When we hold back our love and generosity, our hearts become hardened, and we close off our ability to love. He calls us His little children, and you are His child, Father, as you walk out your day today.
REFLECT: Abide in His love. Take time to Be Still experiencing God’s great love for you. He is your Father looking at you in Love. As we receive nourishment and love from Him, only then will we grow the fruit of love to pour out to others,

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
