CONSIDER: The two primary definitions of generosity.
1) the quality of being kind and generous
2)the quality or fact of being plentiful or large.
The shared object is not defined as material but can be applied to anything we give instead of withholding. This can be time, it can be love, it can be attention, it can be wisdom, grace, or talents. These are things more valuable than the objects and wealth we collect or distribute as they are from the presence and intimate existence of our very being. One made in God’s image and designed to be a conduit of these blessings to others. Prayer is another form of giving from our souls and offering our precious time and focus. It is something every single person has an equal opportunity to pursue and a gift we can provide as long as our hearts still beat inside. It is a blessing to those we pray for and a gift to the Lord as we fulfill his design to be the source of all we need. It is also immediately reciprocal as it brings us closer to a relationship with a God overflowing with generous love for us, and it is a powerful tool for personal growth and spiritual development.
REFLECT: Are you generous with the time you spend in prayer?
PRAY:
Use these resources to help pray specifically each day.
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
