Day 4: It's the heart, not the size

The Widow’s Offering
41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

Mark 12:41-44

CONSIDER THIS: American Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, said, “Never measure your generosity by what you give, but rather by what you have left.” Being generous has always been a faith exercise and a heart challenge. How much are you holding back when you look at what you give? Whether we are talking money, time, or resources, what percentage do you hold onto, and what percentage do you give away?

PRAY:

  1. Father in Heaven, teach me to be generous.
  1. God, help me see where I have been holding back and help me live a generous life.
  1. Spend time thanking God for His patience and willingness to walk with us as we learn to surrender more of ourselves to Him.

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 40.8 days of prayer committed so far.

How many prayed today (including yourself)?

Day 1: Reflecting On Our Blessings

August 1, 2024

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
