Day 10: Help me start living a generous life

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God

Hebrews 13:16 ESV

Consider this: God owns everything that I have, and I am a manager of God’s resources. In other words, generosity is giving back to God a portion of what he gave me. This idea is counterintuitive to our thinking that I own my stuff, and generosity is giving out of what I own. How do these two perspectives result in different outcomes? Which perspective have you been living? Here is a story of a follower of Jesus who has bought into God owns it; I manage it. https://generousgiving.org/beverly-grant/

Prayer:

  1. Thank God for his generosity and provision of our needs.
  1. Prayerfully consider your perspective of ownership.
  1. Ask God to give you the faith to trust his perspective for you to live as a manager. To come to believe that he owns what he has given you to manage.

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 40.8 days of prayer committed so far.

Day 1: Reflecting On Our Blessings

August 1, 2024

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
