Day 22: Words Reveal the Heart

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

Luke 6:45 ESV

CONSIDER: Our words are indicators of the state of our hearts. We are not called to manage our words and bite our tongue but to address our hearts.

REFLECT:

Jesus here teaches about the connection between our words and hearts. Our words reveal our hearts. If this is true, what is the state of your heart today?

Think through how you interacted with the people you live, work, and play with. Are they words that reflect good or evil treasure in your heart?

PRAY: Go to a quiet place and pray through these 2 points.

  • Ask the Lord to reveal the state of your heart today. What lies are you believing? What doubts are you wrestling with?
  • Ask the Lord to show you the root of the lie you believe and to give you the truth to replace it with.

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 40.8 days of prayer committed so far.

How many prayed today (including yourself)?

Day 1: Reflecting On Our Blessings

August 1, 2024

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
