Consider this: “From the start of my walk with God, I have always been faithful with tithing. I would see time and time again God providing for me, sometimes financially and other times through other avenues. There was a season when money was extremely tight. My mother and I had just come out of an abusive season and left everything to start new and follow God. As a result, we didn’t have much financially, even though we both worked, but we were faithful with our little. One particular month it was clear we wouldn’t be able to pay our mortgage. We were already barely paying our other bills and knew if we got behind, it would be a slippery slope downhill. We were doing all the right things. We served, we tithed, and we put God first in our home. Our faith was being tested like never before as we stood on God’s promises that He would provide for us. We were desperate for a breakthrough. Around that time, a couple of days before the mortgage was due, one of my friends reached out to me. She shared how God had put it on her heart to bless me and handed me a check for $1,000. Immediately, I started crying as I was so overwhelmed and thankful. I hadn’t shared my need with anyone, but God knew. What I love is that not only did God provide for my mother and me, but He used the most unexpected person, an elderly widow, to bless us. Praise God!”

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
