Day 15: why is it so hard to give?

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver

2 Corinthians 9:7

CONSIDER: Giving is an overflow of your relationship with God, you will decide this with Him.  When we give it is not out of obligation, it’s out of a willing heart because you recognize all that God has given and poured into you.  When you give cheerfully it delights God’s heart because you are partnering with Him to meet the needs of those He has placed in front of you.  The more we give the more God expands and excites our hearts to give, it’s like a planting a seed that grows.

REFLECT: How would you describe your heart posture towards giving?  Is it cheerful?  Where does your reluctance to give come from?

PRAY:

  • Ask God to remove any reluctance to give from your heart
  • Sit with God as you seek and decide in your heart what and where He is asking you to give
  • Thank Him for opportunities to give- where you are planting seeds, growing in generosity and love to others

Day 1: Reflecting On Our Blessings

August 1, 2024

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
